The winner of the photo contest People & Places has been chosen! All beautiful submissions have made it tough on the jury to pick the winner, but there was one picture that stood out. Portrait photographer Brenda Roos took the winning picture.
People & Places Winner
Photographer Dave Kai-Piper chose the winner this month. And the winner is … Brenda Roos!
The story behind the winning photo
Brenda Roos - Winner photo contest - April 2020
On this spring evening I wanted to do a ‘golden hour’ photoshoot with my daughter. In these times of Coronavirus, my daughter and I go on walks and about every two weeks I shoot some pictures during our walk. This way I keep my social media and web site up to date. So sweet of her to help her mother like that, right? And we enjoy our time together very much. Normally there’s no way of getting her to go to the forest, but now she likes it!
I try to take colorful, natural pictures. If possible, I use backlight. I love creating a soft bokeh and sun flare. For this picture I used my Sony A7III with the Sony FE 135mm f/1.8 GM. Just like I did with this photo, I shoot nearly all my portraits on 135mm with aperture 1.8.

Xpert photographer Dave Kai-Piper about the winning photo:
Awesome tone and finish. A near-perfect image that could be cropped in lots of ways & still work well. It would not surprise me if this was a commercial commission by a pro photographer. If so... then that dot top left would need to go, or it was left in to add some ambient character to the image to help blend in the lighting added behind.
Xpozer Team Picks:
