The winner of the photo contest 'Black & White'

A great black-and-white photo is more than just removing the colors. It’s an art form—using light and shadow to make colour unnecessary and reveal the essence of the moment.

In the past month, we held a photo contest with the theme 'Black & White.' We received hundreds of stunning submissions. Our expert jury searched for the most creative uses of a monochromatic palette, the most dramatic staging of light and shadow, and the most innovative subjects for black-and-white photography.

The jury has reached a decision! Take a look here at the winning photos and the jury’s critique.

The winner of the photo contest fantastic is…Lina Dewever🏆

We love how this tree reaches dramatically toward the sky from the center of the image: its bare branches create a striking contrast against the bright sky dotted with fluffy clouds, with the sun adding an extra touch of drama. The shadow extending downward from the center also adds a unique harmony, balancing the dynamic lighting with subtle elegance. This shot deserves a large-scale display: Lina has won an Xpozer 80x120cm print, featuring stunning clarity and a sleek, reusable frame.

The 2nd place goes to…Patrick Wouters 🥈

This image captivates with its strong atmosphere of melancholy, longing, wanderlust, and introspection. The gentle, soft light casts a dreamy tone, while the interplay of light and shadow on the floor, stretching into the distance, creates visual depth. With the vanishing point slightly off-center, the photo gains a subtle dynamism. Great work, Patrick! You’ve won a set of 4 EPIX Tiles to create your very own wall collage.

The 3rd place goes to…Antonio Coelho 🥉

Antonio’s creative composition gave us a delightful surprise: at first glance, it resembles a city skyline, but closer inspection reveals an artful arrangement of screws. The meticulous lighting and shadow enhance the illusion, while the reflection makes it even more realistic. The thoughtful composition using the golden ratio is a fantastic finishing touch. Antonio has won a set of 4 EPIX retros.

Congratulations to all our participants! It was an honor to see such incredible photos.
