Light is a photographers' best friend or worst enemy, depending on the circumstances. In the photo contest ‘fantastic light’ we were looking for the best light-creations.

The phenomenon is called “The Brussels Henge” and it only happens twice a year. “It's a tricky shot to capture because of the weather conditions (which are not always in our favour) and the direct sunlight that makes it difficult to expose the whole frame. I had to capture three pictures at different exposure times and merge them together in order to get this shot.
” the photographer explains.
The centre of this picture is the sun, which divides the first third from the lower 2 thirds of the picture, forming a harmonious composition. Its golden light pours over the road that leads from the lower edge of the picture to the focal point, charging it with a dynamic line.
The colour palette of white to grey to yellow and orange tones radiates clarity and calm.
2nd place goes to … Erika

Her photo shows northern lights in the Netherlands, Friesland, a rare phenomenon and very difficult to capture. Erika has not only succeeded in capturing the Northern Lights, but also in creating a great composition: the Northern Lights divide the picture diagonally. In addition, a windmill illuminated in red plays in the foreground, adding even more magic to the picture.
3rd place goes to … Bart

Bart opted for a classic motif: a golden sunset over the water. In addition, the beautiful town of Deventer. The upper and lower quarters of the picture are kept dark. This makes the sunset particularly dramatic and gives the picture a lively appearance.
