For our "Pets" photo contest, we invited you to capture the unique presence of the animals that share your homes. From small companions like bunnies and guinea pigs to the larger presence of dogs and cats, the submissions provided a wonderful look at the bonds between humans and their pets.
While the contest was open to all types of animals, this round was notably led by feline subjects. Our top three winners each showcased a different style of photography, ranging from candid backyard moments to more structured portraits. Whether taken by hobbyists or those with more experience, these images stood out for their composition and the way they highlighted each animal's character.
After reviewing the entries and the community votes, we are pleased to present the winning photographs.
Think your next shot can top these?
The year-end voting for our Best of the Best – Photo of the Year Award 2025 is now open. 🥂
From December 20th to 31st, you are invited to cast your vote for the ultimate winner from among the 12 main theme winners we’ve had throughout the year.
🏆 1st Place: Ralf Klinkenberg

Title: Findus on a Food Hunt
1st prize: Xpozer (100x150cm)
Ralf’s image is an excellent example of using perspective to create interest. By placing the camera at the same level as the table, the photographer brings the viewer directly into the cat’s point of view. The sharp focus on the paws and eyes against the softer garden background creates a clear sense of depth, capturing a quiet, focused moment of curiosity.
🥈 2nd Place: Chantal Populaire

Title: Blake Gallo
2nd prize: EPIX photo tiles (4x)
This portrait by Chantal uses high-contrast lighting to emphasize the texture of the cat's fur. The choice of a solid black background allows the cream tones of the subject to stand out clearly. The inclusion of the log and greenery provides a natural element that balances the more formal, studio-style composition. It is a well-balanced and technically clean photograph.
🥉 3rd Place: Els Dekempe

Title: Jones Exploring the Garden
3rd prize: EPIX retro tiles (4x)
Els captured a natural, immersive moment in this garden shot. The use of foreground elements—the blades of grass—helps to frame the subject and adds a sense of environment. The color harmony between the cat’s eyes and the surrounding foliage is particularly effective, resulting in a calm and visually pleasing image that reflects a simple moment of exploration.
