We thank everyone for participating—it was a pleasure to see all your astonishing cityscapes.
The winner of the photo contest Big City… is Steve Hixon
No one can resist the captivating sight of the Manhattan skyline. Steve has captured the most iconic borough of New York in a dramatic light setting. The contrast between the golden hues of the sunset and the reddish autumn leaves stands in striking contrast to the cold blue tones of the steel and glass skyscrapers. In the foreground of the image, piles extend toward the center of the image, creating a vanishing point that draws attention to the main subject: the city. This technique emphasizes the main subject even more. A successful portrait of a city! Steve wins an 80 x 120 cm Xpozer to let his photographic art shine on the wall in an appropriate size.
2nd place goes to …Nico Dam
A big city turns the night into a color spectacle; rightly, the photographer has titled this photo as "Explosion of Colors." With a long exposure shot, Nico has managed to transform the movements in the city into glowing streaks, which represent the hustle and bustle of the big city well. The skyscrapers with their small, illuminated windows give viewers a sense of how small one can feel. In the background, an endless sea of lights can be seen, making one realize how many people live in such a city. The photo captures not only the appearance but also the feeling of the big city very well.
Nico has won 4 EPIX Tiles with this photo, which he can use to create an impressive wall collage.
3rd place goes to …Dwight Antierens
This mystical photo of Brabo in front of the Cathedral of Antwerp has captured our attention with its cinematic scene. The mist, the night, and the blue-green coloring come together magically. The tower of the cathedral almost disappears into the mist above, creating an eerie effect. A streetlamp draws attention with its bright white light. It is placed in the golden ratio and gives the image harmony despite all the tension.
The scene invites the viewer to weave stories – a successful photo! Dwight can look forward to a 4-pack of EPIX Retro, with which he can create diverse wall collages.
